Bob Lay was installed as Dean of TUMI-L.A. in June of 2011.  Bob served as Professor of Biblical Studies and Christian Ministry at Taylor University from 1995 through 2010; Assistant Professor of Religion at Northwestern College of Iowa from 1990 to 95; and Christian educator for St. Giles Presbyterian Church from 1980-86.  In 2010 Bob submitted his resignation to Taylor University and, together with his wife Chris, joined the staff of World Impact to serve the inner city of Los Angeles.  Bob has published Readings in Historical Theology: Primary Sources of the Christian Faith  (Kregel Press, 2009), Lessons of Infinite Advantage: William Taylor’s California Experiences (Scarecrow Press, 2010), and several scholarly articles in both the Encyclopedia of Christian Civilization (Wiley-Blackwell) and Encyclopedia of Religion in America (CQ Press, 2011).  Chris serves as secretary for the Los Angeles Christian School, elementary division. 
 
Bob and Chris celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in July of 2012. They have one child, Rebekah, who graduated from Taylor University (her father’s favorite among his 300 student/majors during his time at Taylor), and who is married and lives with her husband Jorge Veitia in Miami Beach, Florida. The Veitias lead a successful ministry to survivors of sex trafficking.
